It’s about more than just the music. For Miguel Vazquez aka Miggy Browns, it’s about crafting an experience from disjointed elements. From spinning to marketing to founding the business, Miguel infuses each event with its own vibe, a personality. His sets reinvent venues and create an image.
In 1998, fate drew Miguel to the music scene. Living in Fort Myers, Fla., his mother thrived as a local radio DJ, and Miguel landed a job at the only record shop in the area, Future Sounds. The environment exposed his passion for creating stylish sound and rhythms. He disposed of traditional genres in light of sophisticated, intricate movement. He experimented with Drum and Bass, Liquid Drum and Bass, Intelligent Drum and Bass, Chicago, Jackin House and Deep House to expose the raw substance in each.
Soon, fate again intervened, adding a component to Miguel’s unique talent equation, a variable he knew was missing. In 2000, he relocated to Orlando, Fla., a city beginning to buzz with a young Drum and Base culture, to earn a degree as a Digital Media Artist from Full Sail University. After graduation, He became one of the core designers at Future Flavaz, a Drum and Bass Promotional Company, using his degree to effectively market the group’s gigs throughout the city. Gaining experience, Miguel became a leading voice in the city’s Drum and Bass movement, and played alongside other local DJs like Hospital Records’ Nu:Tune and Liquid V’s Commix & D-Bridge, to name a few.
For the next 5 years, Miguel and other local DJs continued to fan the flames, creating a swell of interest and a core audience of enthusiasts. He played in local underground festivals and clubs across Florida, adding his expert marketing touch to successfully promote each event. He traveled to Louisiana, drawing inspiration from the state’s rich underground music culture. He was featured in multiple events at the Winter Music Conference in Miami Beach, Fla., described as “a pivotal platform for the advancement of the industry” with a large international reach.
Miguel’s success became a creative outlet and a source of bliss in his life, and he craved to expand his involvement in the process. The business side of music enticed him. In 2005, Miguel entered the business realm, forming his own group, Induced Grooves, with a friend and fellow DJ, Justin Geiler. In the first years of its existence, Miguel helped sponsor, market, and perform at the thriving monthly event bringing nationally-acclaimed artists to the Orlando club scene, including owner of Anabatic Records Worthy, DirtyBird artist J. Phillip, Kontrol’s Nikola Baytala, Traum Record’s Joint Custody, Resident of Chiago’s SmartBar and Owner of DotBleep Recordings’ Justin Long and several popular local DJs.
Miguel took the marketing reins for Induced Grooves, and unmistakably, through his passionate musical talent, design knowledge and skilled management of the Website, online promotions, Social Media integration and print fliers, Miguel’s expertise enhanced the group’s success, drawing enthusiastic music fans from across the globe.
The varied aspects of Miguel’s talent are grounded in his zeal for reinventing sound and rhythm with each track. Listening to just one of his mixes is all you need to live his passion, his obsession. It’s an experience that will stir you to the core.
Constantly experimenting with new sounds, Miguel’s style preferences have grown with his talent and expertise. Moving away from the Liquid Funk and Intelligent Drum and Bass of his early career, Miguel spins Tech House, House, Deep House, Techno, and Techno transforming each event. His sounds are funky, energetic. He creates emotion with rhythm and interest with dissonance. He fuses Jazz, Disco, Funk, and Classic House sounds, manufacturing a beat uninhibited by category or genre.
His style alters sensation. It influences mood. It’s a sound that revolutionizes the day into night, restraint into impulse. It moves. It affects.
DJ. Innovator. Marketing Professional. Entrepreneur. Artist.
